What is it?

I've been collecting unusual objects for quite a while, and several years ago I started posting them on this site as puzzles for visitors to figure out what they are. Most of the items are mine but a few belong to others, if you aren't interested in tools there are plenty of other type objects that have also been posted.

For first time visitors I recommend this archive for a wide variety of some of my best pieces.

  • 1295 Pointer for wooden wheel spokes?
    1296 Lead-acid battery top.
1298 Use to hold/serve meat from deli meat slicer.
    1299 Lighthouse lens.
    1300 Telegraph "sounder".

  • I agree that 1296 is from a battery.

1297. Two examples of single shot pocket "zip" guns. ...looks like one has a gas capsule to fire, or maybe it's shot pellets.

1298. I agree about the meat gripper.

    1299. And the lighthouse lens.

    1300. ...and the telegraph thingus.

  • I agree with stewart and canem on 1296-1200 but have no clue about 1295. Some sort of device to screw something in and mark its relative circular position?

  • 1297 - Pocket flare gun. (I found one once and, not realizing what it was, fired it off, just missing my head.)

  • 1295: for lubricating a (square headed bolt) as you screw it in? Possibly crown bolts on a steam locomotive boiler.
1296:I'd guess an electroplater rather than a battery.
    1297: tear gas pen?
1299: Yes, a fresnel lens for a navigation light. Although it looks a little small and non-rotating for a lighthouse.
    1300: Yeah, a telegraph sounder.

  • I agree with
    1295: spoke sharpener
    1296: battery
    1297: flare gun
    1298: slicer safety holder
    1299: lighthouse lens

1300 is an electrical DC 'vibrator booster', isn't it? Used to raise a DC voltage for high-voltage tubes or other applications.

  • 1297 could be a bear banger as well...like a flare gun, but with a charge that goes off like a gunshot.

  • 1296 - part of a lead-acid battery
    1297 - flare gun
    1299 - light house bulb
    1300 - telegraph sounder
